Proceeds to Impact Lebanon
This painting of Jbiel, painted in collaboration with photographer Natasha Jahchan, raised $500 for Lebanon after the August 2020 explosion in Beirut that caused over 200 deaths and widespread damage to the city. Impact Lebanon funnels donations to the Lebanese Red Cross to help mobilize those on the ground working to rebuild Beirut.
Proceeds to Black Lives Matter Louisville
Breonna Taylor was killed in her home on March 16th, 2020 by members of the Louisville Police Department. Her death was a result of gross misconduct by Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove. Her murder sparked protests around the world as Breonna became a symbol of the violence and injustice that black Americans historically and continually face at the hands of police. It was the widespread hope that justice would be brought and the officers would be charged, but it has since come to light that the grand jury was never even presented with homicide charges against the officers. Only one of the officers was charged and it was with wanton endangerment from firing blindly at her apartment, not even in connection with the death he caused. I grew up mere miles from Breonna, and we were one year apart in age. I painted this as a tribute to her on her birthday - she would have turned 27 on June 5th. The piece was sold to a benefactor for $400 which went directly to BLM Louisville.
Proceeds to Wildlife Victoria
When the wildfires ravaged Australia in 2019, I wanted to do something to help a situation that was entirely out of my control. I was working on this painting based off a 1984 photo of some family members lounging by a pool and I decided to auction it off. A generous friend bought the piece and donated $200 to Wildlife Victoria, an Australian non-profit that tends to afflicted and displaced animals affected by bushfires and extreme heat events in Victoria.
