The Quartrait Series (begun March 2020) was borne from a desire to connect at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, when everything was especially unknown and new fears were brimming to the surface. These subjects were painted mostly live through a computer screen. I Facetimed with friends and strangers around the US and the world, from Boston to Paris to Dublin. We spoke of how our lives had already changed amidst the new virus, what we were doing to cope with isolation and uncertainty, and what we anticipated for the future. I am very grateful to these twelve people: Laurent, Willa, Janee, Patrick Henry, Abby, Josephine, Hollie, Kyle, Ally, Katie, Robbie and Taylor, and Dominic.
